This lesson plan is focused on the basics of volcanoes and earthquakes and ways people can be affected by physical geography. It's also teaching students that people have to consider their surroundings and the weather before building homes and buildings. The lesson plan is directed at students ages k-2 and covers the Geography standard 2.3 of Social Studies standards which reads as follows:
Geography 2.3 --> Students will locate their community, state and nation on maps and globes; identify major geographic characteristics of their local community; and explore geographic relationships between the physical and environmental characteristics of their community.
I think this lesson plan could be enhanced through technology. A virtual tour and/or videos of actual volcanoes erupting and earthquakes would enhance a student's understanding of the two. With technology, student's could go on a virtual tour of a volcano and could look at real-life pictures or videos of a volcano erupting and see how it can affect the surrounding communities. I think adding videos and virtual tours to this lesson plan would enhance the children's learning.

You chose a really good lesson plan. I agree with your idea of the video tours and getting a good look at real-life pictures. Nice job!
